Jack Wilfred Grieve, also known as creamylines, is a Leeds Arts University-trained illustrator, muralist, and artist with a distinctive visual style. He works primarily with analogue wet media, including Posca pens, ink, watercolor, and acrylics, embracing the unpredictable nature of these materials to create art that is "honest, wonky, and human"—a deliberate departure from clean, digital photorealism. Alongside illustrations he enjoys creating sculptures and large scale murals. Jack is also an educator and workshop facilitator with many years of experience working alongside different organisations supporting and assiting with young people and working within ASD, SEN and additional needs enviroments.
The name "creamylines" describes the effortless flow and smooth curves of his work, a result of his meditative, process-driven approach. By allowing the line to lead, Jack balances controlled precision with spontaneous "messiness," creating artworks that fuse powerful color choices with organic, expressive lines.
Jack's work has been exhibited at various venues, including the Hyde Park Book Club and Artshop 'Colours May Vary' in Leeds, and more recently, the Centrespace Gallery in Bristol. He recently created the album artwork for the CD and vinyl release of the Bristol Band SANS FROID entitled ‘Back into the womb.' He has collaborated with UK musicians like Jake Healy and Alfie Grieve on album art for their album, "Eggs in Purgatory," and created gig posters and merchandise for the Leeds-based funk band, 'Flatmoon.' He also designed the debut album art for 'FeelgoodExperiment.' In addition to his work with musicians, Jack has created murals for many private clients and for community-focused projects with the Leeds-based Community Interest Company (CIC), WEBELONGHERE. He has also worked with Boomtown Festival and is now one of the mural painters for Glastonbury, creating artwork all over the Green Futures Field. His corporate client list includes Oxford University Press and LUC; Land Use Consultants.
At its core, creamylines is about radical self-inquiry. His art serves as an invitation for viewers to reconnect with what is sometimes called their "true" nature—the boundless awareness that lies beneath personal identity—and to find contentment in the stillness of the present moment. This philosophy is the fuel for a creative mission to visually depict the complex beauty of life itself.
